The Max Pulse device is manufactured in South Korea by Medicore. It is a non-invasive tool that can be used by the family practitioner or internist and offer more insight into whether or not a person has atherosclerosis, and if so, to what degree.
It’s a simple, inexpensive test that just takes a few minutes. It’s already FDA approved and is often covered by insurance.
It works by measuring blood at the fingertip as it graphs the heart rate as it goes through its systolic and diastolic pressures. It also views large and small artery circulation which can be an accurate indicator that something more serious is taking place. If the arteries are flexible and moving freely, there will be many deviations on the graph. Conversely, if the graph readings are tight and regular, this can be an indication that the arteries are stiff.
Additionally, the Max Pulse test measures the autonomic nervous system response.
Tests that are more complex and invasive are done by a cardiologist which includes EBCT (Electron Beam Computed Topography), Stress testing, Carotid artery ultrasound, Echocardiogram, and Angiography.
However, unless someone is presenting with obvious signs of a heart attack or stroke, most times early diagnosis begins with the patient’s regular doctor. Utilizing the Max Pulse as an additional diagnostic tool can ultimately aid in prevention of the disease progressing, and ultimately save someone’s life.
